Spending the night in Auckland CBD | The Grand Mercure
My recent stay at the Grand Mercure Hotel in Auckland Central was nothing short of amazing. Never have I felt so welcomed!! The staff were truly amazing and being greeted on arrival and shown up to my room made me feel like royalty! We were so fortunate to be put in one of the executive suites and the view was amazing.

I live in Auckland, NZ out in suburbs so it was nice to go on a mini stay-cation and get an insight to the city life. Now I’m not a big fan of Auckland Central, I like the viaduct and that’s about it so it was great that the Grand Mercure is located so close to the water. Not only do you get an amazing view if you are in one of the ocean view rooms, you are also super close to all the restaurants along the viaduct and in Wynyard Courter. My personal favourites are Jack Tar and Soul Bar but after eating out at White and Wongs during our stay, this place has also made my favourites list! If you are after somewhere for a drink, head to Doctor Rudi’s rooftop bar or Degree Bar. Fish bowls anyone?!
After dinner we headed back to the Grand Mercure and went up to the top floor to visit their bar and restaurant for a drink. It’s located on the 13th floor and if you feel like going out for a nice dinner with gorgeous views of this city this is the place to be! We just grabbed a drink at the bar and headed back to our room because the Royal Wedding was starting at 9pm and of course I didn’t want to miss seeing Megan in her dress. I’m a massive Suits fan, if you need a good series to binge watch, this is it!
I tried to watch the whole thing, and I nearly did! But it got the point where I could no longer keep my eyes open so I drifted off to sleep. Waking up after possibly had one of the best sleeps I’ve ever had in the worlds comfiest bed (not exaggerating – there was even a pillow menu) we ordered some room service breakfast. Classic lazy Sunday morning!
After securing a late checkout we wandered down to the viaduct. It had turned into a gorgeous day so I was keen to get outside and have a bit of a walk around. If you want to see what I got up to during my stay here, watch my vlog below!
