Time has flown by like crazy, how I’ve nearly been in Thailand for over a month now I have no idea?! When I first arrived I spent two nights in Bangkok at the gorgeous Le Meridien hotel.
A 5 star hotel situated in the heart of Bangkok, steps away from major subway stations making it easy to get to from the airport. Having been to Bangkok before I didn’t have plans to see a whole lot during my two nights here.
I mainly just wanted to relax and recover from the long haul flight from Greece so that I had enough energy to hit the ground running when I arrived in Chiang Mai and set up my new life so that I could get settled asap.
The hotel itself is renowned for its contemporary art-inspired interior and design. It features a pool, gym, spa (currently ranked #1 in Bangkok) and restaurants. I stayed in one of the circular rooms and I’m not even exaggerating, I literally had the best sleep ever. The bed, pillows and duvet were pure heaven! There’s even a pillow menu so if you’re fussy with your pillows then they’ve got you sorted haha.
The room was situated on the 22nd floor so the views of Bangkok were pretty spectacular and there were full-window walls with a couch pushed up against them. I can confirm that the couch is also incredibly comfy and a great place for a nap haha.
When I first arrived at the Le Meridien I was warmly welcomed by the team. It was a lovely feeling after a long haul flight and it made me so excited to spend my next 6 months here in Thailand. I was shown to my room and got settled before heading down to the spa for a massage. I had the signature hot lava touch 90 minute treatment and it was pure heaven. If you have never had a hot stone massage before I would highly recommend it!!
I was so relaxed afterwards, I headed back to my room, ran myself a nice warm bath and binged watched Grey’s Anatomy. It was the perfect was to spend my first evening in Bangkok and honestly I was so tired from the travelling I didn’t really feel like doing much else!
The next morning I woke up to the most incredible breakfast spread. There was SO much food. Did I eat it all? Well not all in one go, but yes, yes I did. Then I had a nap. It was fab. I really wasn’t lying when I said I didn’t do much here in Bangkok… Later that day I ventured out to find some food, I ate at a restaurant one of the staff members recommended that was located just behind the hotel. It was called Ruen Urai. I ordered a green curry and it was DELICIOUS. One of my fave Thai dishes for sure.
Once 5pm rolled around it was time for me to start work so it was another quiet evening. Although I did pop out to the night markets just across from the hotel to find myself something to eat for dinner. It was your classic market you can expect to find in Thailand with amazing food as well.
In the morning I had another incredible breakfast but this time, instead of getting room service, I went down to the breakfast buffet. The selection of food was amazing, they had everything from pancakes, to granola, to fried rice and of course my personal fave was the fresh ice cold coconuts!!
After breakfast I headed to the pool for a quick dip then it was time to get my suitcase and head down to check out to make it to the airport for my flight. Overall I had such an incredible stay at the Le Meridien and I could not recommend it enough!! Will definitely head back here if I find myself in Bangkok again.
