And honestly, I think that’s a mistake.

How to get from Auckland to Piha Beach
Getting from central Auckland to Piha Beach is super easy, and the drive itself is part of the adventure! Piha is about 40 kilometres west of the CBD, which translates to roughly a 45-minute drive, depending on traffic (avoid peak travel times at all costs, Auckland traffic can be no joke!).
You’ll head out of the city on the Northwestern Motorway (State Highway 16) and then take the exit for Piha Road. From there, you’ll wind your way through the Waitākere Ranges, with lush greenery and occasional glimpses of the coastline, it’s a really nice drive. The road gets a bit twisty (very normal for New Zealand roads!) as you get closer to Piha, but the views are incredible, and before you know it, you’ll be at the beach.
If you don’t have a car, shuttle services and tours can take you there. There is no public transport that will take you all the way to Piha Beach, the closest train stations are Henderson or Glen Eden so you’d have to catch a taxi the remainder of the way and that gets expensive so booking the shuttle or a tour is going to be your best bet.
