There are also high-end luxury resorts with stunning views of The Remarkables mountain range as well as apartments and holiday homes.

Is Queenstown expensive?

Queenstown is known as an expensive destination, however it doesn’t have to be if you plan ahead. The prices of activities and food can vary greatly so making sure you do your research before committing to anything is a must.

Accommodation in Queenstown is relatively pricey but there are still options available for different budgets. Additionally, there are free activities to take part in such as hikes, mountain biking and wine tours. If you’re planning ahead there are discounts available on some attractions too.

Overall Queenstown (and New Zealand for that matter!) is an expensive place but if planned properly it can be enjoyed without breaking the bank.

When is the best time to visit Queenstown?

The best time to visit Queenstown is between November and April when the weather is warmer and drier. During these months you can take part in activities such as wine tours, hiking, and mountain biking which are all popular in this region.

However, if you want snow in Queenstown, then you’ll want to visit in the winter months which is JuneAugust. You probably won’t want to do wine tastings in the snow though…so best to stick with the warmer months!

Is Queenstown safe?

Yes, Queenstown is a very safe destination with a low crime rate. I’ve never felt unsafe when I’ve been travelling in Queenstown, even at night. That being said, it’s always important to take the necessary precautions and use common sense when travelling anywhere.

Be aware of your surroundings and don’t leave valuables or bags unattended in public places.

How do I get to Queenstown?

How you get to Queenstown largely depends on where you’re coming from but overall the easiest way to get to Queenstown is by flight, with regular flights from both Auckland and Christchurch.

Queenstown also has an international airport so if you’re coming from outside of New Zealand it may be possible to fly straight into Queenstown without having to catch another domestic flight.

Alternatively, you can also get to Queenstown by bus or car. I usually travel to Queenstown from Auckland so I mostly fly.

Once in Queenstown, there are plenty of options when it comes to getting around such as walking, biking, taxis and shuttle services.

What should I pack for Queenstown?

When packing for Queenstown, you’ll want to make sure that you have the right clothing and footwear depending on the season.

During the winter months, make sure to pack your warmest layers and a trusty pair of waterproof shoes in order to stay cosy.

For spring and summer, consider packing a light jacket just in case temperatures are cooler than expected or if you encounter rain. And don’t forget those comfortable walking shoes – they’re an absolute must for any outdoor adventures!

I also always recommend packing sunscreen (for your face in particular), regardless of the season, as New Zealand has a very thin ozone layer and it’s extremely easy to get burnt!!

Lastly, don’t forget your camera – you’re sure to find plenty of picture-perfect moments while exploring Queenstown!
